On Thursday, October 30th, Gladeview Christian School was the only school in the league to qualify all three (3) teams (JV, Middle School Girls Varsity, Middle School Boys Varsity) to the league Championships involving the top 4 schools in each division. On that same evening, Gladeview left the Miami Springs recreation center with three (3) Championship trophies.
Gladeview’s JV Volleyball team which entered the tournament as the #1 seed with an 8-0 record, continued their perfect season beating First United Methodist School in the semi-finals match 25-10, 25-12. In the Championship finals, Gladeview beat Cutler Ridge Christian Academy 25-18, 25-16 to capture the JV Volleyball Championship, and finishing the season undefeated with a 10-0 record; Gladeview’s JV team won every match in straight sets. This is the 2nd year in a row that Gladeview Christian School wins the Championship in the JV division.
Gladeview’s Girls varsity volleyball team which entered the tournament as the #3 seed with a 5-3 record, had a tough match in the semi-finals against St. John’s. Just two (2) weeks earlier, St. John’s beat Gladeview in three (3) sets. At the league Championship semi-finals, this match would go to the 3rd and deciding set as well. In the 1st set Gladeview beat St. John’s 25-23. St. John’s came out with a big lead early in the 2nd set and held the lead winning 25-15. In the 3rd set both teams would take turns taking the lead before Gladeview ended up winning the 3rd and exciting set 15-13. In the Championship finals, Gladeview beat King’s Christian School the #1 seed 25-15, 25-15 to win the Middle School Girls Varsity division at the league Championships. This is the 3rd year in a row that Gladeview Christian School wins the Championship in the Middle School Girls Varsity division.
Gladeview’s Middle School boys Varsity volleyball team entered the tournament as the #1 seed with an 8-0 record. In the Semi-finals match, they had a tough 1st set with #4 seed All Angels Academy winning 25-22. All Angels were winning most of the 1st set until Gladeview took the lead late and held on to win. In the 2nd set, the Panthers jumped out to an early lead and never lost it. Gladeview ended up winning the 2nd set 25-5. In the Championship finals, Gladeview beat First United Methodist School 25-14, 25-15 to capture the school’s 4th consecutive Championship in the Boys Varsity Volleyball division.
