Message from David Cuervo:
There is a misconception that “hard work” alone will lead to success. However, what is oftentimes overlooked is that a well designed game plan, efficient practice sessions, proper scheduling of games and/or competitions and working within a system that is able to make the necessary adjustments depending on various factors can lead one closer to success, and increase an athlete’s or a team’s chances of success, as well as maximizing their potential.
Hard work with no direction, no purpose, and just working hard for the sake of working hard has its limits. Yes, having a good work ethic and working hard is important and has its merits, but knowing when to work “smarter” and not just “harder” during certain times of the season or year can make the difference in maximizing an athlete’s or a team’s performance and/ or success, as well as peaking at the right time of the season.
